Impulse Movement – new music from Kjetil Møster!
(See practical information and ticket types at the bottom of the page)
Star saxophonist Kjetil Møster has composed a commissioned work for BBB, shaped by the many varied projects he has been involved in. The foundation is built on the great jazz canon of the 1960s—artists such as Coltrane, Miles, and Pharoah Sanders—seasoned with modern classical music and more popular musical directions from the 1970s. In recent years, Møster has also toured Brazil several times, becoming fascinated and inspired by the country’s incredibly diverse musical life. The result is a grand and energetic journey through rhythmic and melodic passages—crowned by the fantastic voice of rising star Gabriela Garrubo.
Saxophonist Kjetil Møster has made a name for himself in numerous contexts over the past 25 years. He appears on well over 100 album releases and has toured all over the world with jazz bands in every imaginable form and style. In addition, he was a longtime member of Datarock, has been an important part of Lars Vaular’s live concerts, and arranged Kamelen’s music for symphony orchestra. He composed the commissioned work for the Vossajazz festival in 2025.
Bergen Big Band is one of Norway’s leading and most active big bands. Known for its high artistic level, the ensemble’s roots go back to the 1970s. Over the years they have collaborated with some of the world’s leading jazz musicians, such as Chris Potter, Marius Neset, and Diana Krall, and have performed at major international festivals. With a strong focus on innovation, commissioned works, and talent development, the band is a powerhouse in Norwegian jazz. World-class big band jazz!
