Guitarist and composer Simon S. Furnes from Alversund, north of Bergen, is releasing his debut album *Birds of Passage*, recorded at Rainbow Studio, featuring, among others, Hildegunn Øiseth and Mats Eilertsen. In spring 2025, he completed a master’s degree in performing rhythmic music at the University of Agder (UiA), and has since performed everywhere from VG-lista to Norwegian jazz stages. His music is shaped by a search for new approaches to improvisation and composition—strongly inspired by Olivier Messiaen—taking the listener on a journey through shifting tonal landscapes where the interplay between dissonance, tonality, and harmony is explored and challenged.
