Guitarist Hedvig Mollestad has two Spellemann awards to her name, has been named by Downbeat as one of the 25 people who will shape jazz in the coming years, and this May, the eighth album with her trio will be released – still with the playful energy that has defined the band since its inception. The music sweeps through energetic riffs, complex interplay, screeching solos, and, from time to time, a steady, thoughtful ballad. Here, the free, exploratory spirit exists, but with calm, concentration, and a solid internal structure. Difficult to place, easy to recognize, and with a joy of playing they are eager to share.
