HACHIKŌ

FRIDAY 29 MAY

USF VERFTET

Where jazz runs wild

The relatively new Bergen-based band explores a sonic landscape where the essence lies in heavy drum breaks and bass lines that hit the listener deep. Hachikō combines a playful, improvisational approach with carefully considered songwriting, in which every element is deliberately placed to create a unique experience. The band also experiments with unconventional string instruments, searching for riffs that add a distinctive edge to the music.

The soundscape is characterized by a fusion of beautiful melodies and chords, combined with a raw, unorthodox, and at times gritty sound. Their inspiration is drawn from artists and musicians such as Pino Palladino, Blake Mills, Yussef Dayes, Immanuel Wilkins, Shabaka, Alice Coltrane, and Madlib. A journey of discovery through a sonic landscape where jazz runs wild, hip hop grows untamed, and everything melts together.
