HÅKON KORNSTAD TRIO

SUNDAY 25 MAY

//

USF VERFTET

HÅKON KORNSTAD saxophone, tenor voice FRODE HALTLI accordeon MATS EILERTSEN bass

With a warm treatment of romantic arias and songs—sprinkled with improvisation, great musical humor, and a spirit of adventure—comes a concert that is a perfect fit for both opera lovers and jazz enthusiasts. There are few in this world who have made the leap from a distinguished jazz saxophonist to a trained opera singer, and perhaps even fewer who can pull it off. As a saxophonist, Håkon Kornstad is a unique talent, with tone and control that few can match. As a singer, he is a lyrical tenor who alternates between Italian operatic bravura and beautiful, Nordic restraint. In the trio, he is joined by the rock-solid Mats Eilertsen and the extraordinary musician Frode Haltli—together, a trio with beautiful melodies that you can whistle on your way home.

Breathtakingly beautiful!
