Scandinavian super band with album release
The band, which originally began as a commissioned work for Vossa Jazz, has over the years become the most important creative outlet for the superb bassist from The Thing, with each album and concert revealing new facets of his musical universe.
In August 2025, they released their fourth album, 'Drops', driven equally by energy and playfulness, with the joy of making music as a clear foundation. Inspired by artists such as Mats Gustafsson, Anthony Braxton, and Vassily Kandinsky, Flaten takes the band in a new direction by introducing graphic scores — a working method that opens up a rich, associative musical language in which jazz, free improvisation, and contemporary rhythmic music naturally intertwine.
'Drops' by (Exit) Knarr was named Album of the Year 2025 by Bandcamp (Best Jazz Albums of 2025), as well as Best Norwegian Album of the Year by Dagsavisen, and Deichman’s Best Norwegian Release 2025, selected by Stian Bjørnson Hope.
On June 6, they take the stage at Nattjazz, releasing their fifth album, "fly", on the very same day.
