French trumpet magic

Daoud is the problem child who refuses to follow the rules of jazz—a master trumpeter who tears at conventions without any need for recognition, yet resonates just as strongly with curious first-time listeners as with seasoned purists. The music is charged with a persistent tension between playfulness and seriousness, chaos and tenderness, irony and sincerity. Around the music he creates a raw visual universe, marked as much by provocation as by youthful abandon. Fragility, transience, satire—the aesthetic embraces the flaw rather than hiding it. On stage, Daoud and his band bend the rules with a blend of restrained lyricism and explosive power—free and uncompromising.
