Folk music 2.0.
The multi-instrumentalists, rooted in Norwegian folk music and rock-infused grooves, released the album *Andre sida* (ta:lik) to critical acclaim in late 2019, and in March 2025 unveiled the long-awaited follow-up *Dystopi Delete* (Sheep Chase) to tremendous reviews. Musically, the band flows through Norwegian *slått* traditions, rhythms inspired by both West Africa and the Americas, and long, dance- and trance-inducing grooves. Or, as Arvid Skancke-Knutsen wrote in *Klassekampen*: ‘as if the Velvet Underground had secretly been rehearsing for years in a Norwegian storehouse.’ With lyrics about prepping, the sheep flock rushing headlong toward the cliff, and a hard spring, the band captures the spirit of the times, while its focus on groove, tight ensemble playing, and old-fashioned tonality gives the music a timeless quality. A supergroup in Norwegian folk music as well as in rock.
