With "version two," Ola Kvernberg took the Steamdome beast from jazz club to dance floor. When he unleashes the third and currently final part of the concept, it’s without restraint in what has already become a large project, now with a full symphony orchestra behind it. "Steamdome III: Beyond The End" was premiered in front of over 3,000 people at Borggården, Trondheim, in the late summer of 2023, and people are still talking about the packed concerts with Steamdome and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra at Kilden Concert Hall and Sentrum Scene in Oslo. Now, we finally get to experience the music in XXL size on a stage in Bergen!

When "Steamdome I" saw the light of day – initially commissioned for Trondheim Jazzfest and Moldejazz in 2016 – Kvernberg described the project as a sort of midlife crisis, the musician's version of buying a motorcycle. Now, it is his working band and main musical project. When the first album came out in 2017, it surprisingly landed in 10th place on the list of Norway’s best-selling vinyl records, marking one of the most remarkable commercial breakthroughs for a Norwegian jazz musician. Where "Steamdome I" was quite punk, jammy, and loose, "Steamdome II" from 2021 was tighter and more composed. But anyone who fell for the first two parts will recognize themselves in "Steamdome III" – even with a symphony orchestra, the rhythmic intensity will knock you down.
